The Mission of The Bernie Scholarship Awards Program is to provide financial assistance for college or training programs to graduating high school seniors and other adults who are low-income and live in subsidized housing in Montgomery County, Maryland.
Friends of Project Discovery, Fairfax supports a drop out prevention and college access preparatory program offered in Virginia for 4th—12th graders. The Friends provide supplemental funding for computers and other student needs. Project Discovery has a proud record of achieving a 100% success rate in sending program graduate
Mentors Inc. expands educational opportunities to D.C.’s public high school students by pairing them with caring adult volunteers in structured, enriched mentoring relationships that help students realize their potential and ensure they graduate with a plan.
For Love of Children works to protect and inspire Washington, D.C.’s most vulnerable youth, and to strengthen their families. Its mission is to offer educational services that equip high-risk youth with the skills needed to break the cycle of poverty, become life-long learners and make contributions to their communities.
Family Self-Sufficiency Program of Montgomery County assists families in subsidized housing to break the cycle of welfare dependence by providing job training, education and case management services. The goal is livable-wage employment and economic self-sufficiency.
Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes helps severely wounded veterans and families of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn recover from their injuries and illnesses. It also works to inspire other organizations, and the general public, to participate in this effort.
The Wendt Center for Loss and Healing helps people in the Greater Washington area rebuild a sense of safety and hope after experiencing a loss, life-threatening illness, violence or other trauma. Nationally recognized for their expertise in grief, trauma and mental health, they provide an array of holistic services for children, teens, adults, families, and our local communities.
